Eduard Serarols

WEB_EduardPhD. Engineer

Eduard joined isardSAT in October 2010. He is a doctor of Physics (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, 2000), and an electronics engineer (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona; 2005). He was a researcher at the University of Barcelona's Intelligent Signal Processing group, and the manager of bio-FP7 collaborative project Neurochem.

He was formerly a lecturer at Autonomous University of Barcelona’s Electronics Engineering department (2003 - 2006). He researched into Monte Carlo simulation of transistors, and electronic transport and noise in these electronic devices.

He had also been a lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia’s Mechanical Engineering department (1989 - 2000). Besides carrying out research in Boolean operations to combine B-spline sculpted solids for simulating mechanical systems, he did his doctoral thesis on detection and analysis of rail and ground vibrations generated by running trains for estimating the rolling condition of their wheel tires. The research was useful for improving tire maintenance of Barcelona metro's trains. As a scholarship holder at the University of Barcelona’s Applied Physics and Optics department (1989) he carried out the project: Digital image processing; educational software for image processing, enhancement and visualization.

Besides Earth observation, he is interested in: 1) programming, and computer applications development; 2) development of algorithms for data processing; 3) computational science and engineering; systems modelling; mathematical modelling; and computer simulation; and 4) research and development.
