Signal processing (SAR) engineer

The primary role of the successful candidate will be to design and develop algorithms related to oceanography, hydrology and cryosphere applications using SAR images and Altimetry echoes. The candidate will be potentially involved in the development and verification of ground processors for new SAR missions (future Sentinels and Earth Explorers) that are currently in design phases.

The primary role of the selected candidate will be:

  • Processing and analysis of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data
  • Developing scientific algorithms in the fields of radar remote sensing, image processing, Big Data analysis
  • Prototyping, implementing, and testing of processing chains and generation of value-added products
  • Writing technical documents, project reports and scientific journal papers

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Maths or Physics
  • More than 4 years of relevant experience
  • Very good knowledge of SAR RF systems
  • Working experience coding with Python or Matlab
  • Good knowledge of Image processing techniques
  • The following personal skills:
  • An aptitude for problem-solving
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to work as an individual and as part of a team, to communicate effectively with a range of people, to work to tight deadlines in a logical manner and with attention to detail
  • Availability to travel (project meeting, usually 1-2 days every 2-3 months)

Any of the following would be beneficial to your application, but not exclusive:

  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence algorithms
  • PhD degree related to SAR algorithms
  • Good skills in data visualisation
